Three things from yesterday ...

When we pulled out of McDonalds and onto the freeway, we were following a U-haul truck ... with his back door open. Not sure if he had already lost stuff but stuff was lying out the door so the door couldn't be closed without moving stuff. I honked but he didn't stop. Not any traffic on the freeway so I was able to get along side of him with my horn blaring and BB pointing at the back of his truck. He got the message, hit the breaks and the shoulder ... he must have finally remembered.

After I was in my truck and on the freeway, a truck of used steel passed me. Something didn't look right so I gave him room and within a mile or so a piece of steel feel off and landed across my traffic lane. I hit the breaks and the shoulder and made it around the steel as did the semi behind me. The truck that dropped the steel stopped and that was the last I seem of him.

As we were pulling off the freeway to our motel we had to stop for the traffic light. When the cross traffic got their green, someone it a red Camero type car laid rubber in the first two gears and was gone. A few seconds later a squad hit their siren and their lights, made a U-turn and was on the tail of the red car.

There are lots of times I wish a cop had seen what I saw and pulled someone over ... this one doesn't rank very high on that list.

Now for today. We kind of sleep in and didn't get going until 8 am local. This is going to make for a late night (after dark anyway.)

Yesterday work sent out a message about adding anti-gel to the diesel trucks. Didn't get any yesterday so today we get some at the first truck stop we stop at. Didn't make it as far as last week before our first stop, that means likely an extra stop today. First stop was at a Pilot before Knoxville. Turned to soon to get into their lot and had to make a U-turn in Burger King to get where we were going.

BB had a lunch stop picked out, but the exit we took wasn't the one we were looking for and way to busy so we got back on the freeway down to the next exit. Ended up eating at Arby's in Cooksville.

We took breaks in Trenton, KY and Metropolis, IL before stopping for fuel in Benton at Casey's for fuel. We didn't need fuel yet but this is as cheap as it gets. MPG started out yesterday at about 8 and got up to 11.5 so we will end up making money on the fuel this trip also.

We spend the night at the Comfort Inn in Mt Vernon. This time we ate at a BBQ instead of a Mexican place. We both had more food than we needed.

And yes, it was an hour after dark before we got to the motel.
