2 RV's to Carson City, NV ... spending the night in Lake Point / Tooele, UT.

By the end of the day, all is good.

I didn't hear any kids last night, BB was up sometime during the night and heard someone but that was it. Did make it a little crowded this AM in the breakfast area but the staff did seem to be keeping up. This place also has bagged breakfasts to go. If we grabbed one of those it would be a little cheaper than our $15 buffets. And likely enough food.

1st stop. Headed out just before daylight. Back tracked a mile to the next exit, computer showed taking the city streets but I know the freeway so we went that way. BB had a new issue. The fuel hose wouldn't go in the RV. There is a little ? dirt flap ? that usually gets pushed out of the way when the nozzle goes in. It wouldn't move. But there were enough gaps around it that I could hold the nozzle and let it slowly run in. So that is how we fueled. We did save $9.00 by driving back that mile.

By now it is light, sun up was about 15 minutes later. Early on I saw a dead cow in the pasture. Not something we see very often. See lots of road kill closer to the highway.

BB had looked at the weather and it showed wind before we get to our next stop. I remembered one of the cities she mentioned but didn't remember if it was the start or the finish. A little wind before that town, but after the town we didn't have so much wind, but bad roads. Saw a few people in the ditch that looked like they just happened. And watched one happen.

One place is said accident in 17 miles be prepared to stop. After I went past, BB saw them lifting the guy out of his pickup so that had to be 20+ minutes later. And 20 minutes after that we were still seeing emergency vehicles heading that way including a helicopter that might have been emergency. The pickup had lost to a semi so that one was pretty crunched. Other than that it seemed to be a soft landing for the others.

We stayed at or below the posted. WY has variable speed limit signs that change with the weather. At one point I felt like I lost control for a second so I put on the 4-ways to warn BB ... when I looked back she was a half mile behind me. Later she told me that she had lost control for 2-3 seconds and that was why she was so far behind. Most of the traffic followed in line but a few seemed to be going their normal speed. Those are the ones that cause the not so soft landings. Other than some time lost all was OK and the white knuckles will get their color back.

2nd stop was at the Flying J in Rawlins to use the rest room. Sometime after here I noticed my check engine light had gone off. So now we get to change our delivery plans again. But I did tell the drop we were bringing two ... so we should be good.

Shortly after we pulled back on the freeway we caught up to a sanding truck, he was dumping it on full width. I went slowly around him but there was a truck coming up on me that had to be doing the 80 mph speed limit and he had no intention of slowing down. I got out of his way.

3rd stop was at Terrible's Shell in Rock Springs, plan was also to eat at the A&W there. Plans changed, the A&W burnt down. But BB had good news, the nozzle fit again. Not sure what that was about.

4th stop was Penny's Diner in Green River because that was the next known food. It was a full house. When we walked in there was one empty table, dirty, and stools open. We chose the stools. They came and took our order right away but there were a half dozen tables ahead of us in the cook order. So it was about a half hour before we got our food. We were sitting right there so we could watch it.

Brings back the old days when I cooked at Country Kitchen and then Sambos. I can't remember the dates but Country Kitchen was likely the fall of 1975 thru summer of 1977. Sambos was the winter of 1977-78. I suppose I could do it again if it came to that.

BB had a club and could only eat half of it. I had a patty melt and ate most of it.

5th stop was the Flying J in Evenston for a rest break. No other issues with traffic or RV's. Lots more snow further west.

BB had been wondering if we would beat rush hour traffic in SLC today ... we did. It's Saturday :)

5th and final stop is the Comfort Inn in Tooele right across from the Dennys/Flying J. BB at her other half a sandwich and I made sure I got cookies from the front desk.

Tomorrow we can't enter NV until 9 AM Pacific so we can sleep in. Didn't sleep real good last night, kids weren't the problem. We should be able to make it to Fernley and then it will be another 50 miles on Monday before delivery. No more big cities before delivery.

Plan is to avoid Reno with the RV's and pick up a local rental in Carson City, use that to go up to Reno to get a one-way. The Reno car is that much cheaper, it also will give us a few extra hours leeway if we need it on the drop end.
