1 bus heading to Pittsburg PA

... spending the night in Edgewood NM

Real breakfast. My first hot breakfast in weeks. We tell someone what we want and they dish it up. Scrambled eggs, ham/sausage, hashbrowns, pineapple chunks, mini-apple pie. Fresh, good stuff. Not going to be hungry by noon.

But all that food made us later getting going. We left about 15 minutes later than we thought we would. Leaving in 'daylight' but not yet sun up.

Motel did fill up over night. 30 cars where it could fit 40, 20 cars where it would fit 50. A lot more than when we shut down last night.

1st stop is in Williams at the Loves. Bought some DEF while we were there.

2nd stop was in Holbrook at the TA Express at the Popeyes. It was that or the Burger King in the Hopi Travel Center. We ate at a table outside. Not very warm but better than another standing lunch. BB had a chicken sandwich and I had two pieces of dark meat. Everything is deep fried.

Leaving out of Flagstaff earlier there was a pickup with a 5th wheel hauling cars that was pulled to the side of the road and two cops behind him. Then when we got to the NM scale, we got waved through because the same guy was getting 'special treatment' by the NM scale house. Not his day. Not a few other peoples day either. Saw a few people with 2-6 cops behind their car and getting the once over.

3rd stop is Jamestown at the Pilot for break. A driver is just walking to his RV when we pull in so I rush over and ask him a couple of questions. He is a transporter driving a Renegade. I thought the customers all picked up their own Renegade because of how pricy they were. No, he is busy as much as he wants. He used to run for Bennett so he had a couple of questions before he remembered his number had been called for a shower so he needed to get going.

4th stop was near downtown Albuquerque at the TA for a free lunch. All of our drivers could get a free lunch from that chain either today or tomorrow. But only at the full service restaurants, not the fast food. But they have been closing down a lot of their locations. In fact there have been news releases that all of their locations will be replaced with either fast food or other chain restaurants.

AZ has three TA's on I-40. We ate at the 1st one at noon and they only had a Popeyes. This one in ABQ is still open, but the next one in Moriarty is now closed also leaving just fast food places.

BB and I eat got a voucher for two free meals but not likely we will use the 2nd one.

We took the food back to our motel. Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberries, beets, bread and pumpkin pie. Other than the bread which might have been sitting in the open all day. The food wasn't too bad. We ate it. Not the same as home cooked but better than the deep fried chicken.

5th stop is the Quality Inn in Edgewood. Good thing we got food before getting here. Everything is closed except for the vending machine. Even the gas station looked closed. I had called ahead and they said they should have a place to park. Lots of room when we got here, but like last night it might fill up by the AM.

Found out on Face Book that Iowa dispatch will be open both Friday and Saturday AM. So the load board will drop. It even dropped today by two. I didn't look to see where they were out of.

We did see a few transporters today. UPS vans, both transporters and flat bed. RV's, trucks, stacks. Traffic across AZ and NM looked about normal. Mostly trucks, a few cars.

Pretty close to 500 miles today. After I put in the DEF today, I went over 150 miles before it dropped off 'F' and almost 300 before it got down to where it was when I picked it up. DEF doesn't make a difference.
