1 pickup to Shakopee MN (delivered)

... spending the night at home

We were up at our usual time, took our walk and ate breakfast.

Just after 7 AM our time, 8 eastern time, our auction dispatcher gave us our updated list. And there was a Hill City to Shokopee on the list. And I got it.

By 9 AM we had our paperwork and were ready to go. Same route as last time. It isn't the shortest or fastest, but it is different than the route we have been taking almost daily.

1st stop was at a Holiday Stationstore in Mora to use the restroom and make a phone call to the shipper. At the shipper I will be able to 'grab and go,' there is no one left there.

2nd stop is the shipper. The place is emptier but there are still trucks to be picked up. The mobile offices near the gate are now gone and what we thought was a 2nd business, those trailers are now ready to roll also.

With only a couple of dozen trucks left it doesn't take long to find the truck. And this is the first time there were no delays.

Today the farmers were baling the hay that they were cutting on Monday. So it must be pretty dry for the hay to dry that quickly this late in the season.

3rd stop for me was the rest area in Maple Grove. I stopped mostly to read messages. It was now 3 PM and we hadn't committed to any work today.

4th stop was the drop in Shakopee. Somewhere before the drop I can't remember checking the compartments under the flat bed. That is where we found all the stuff yesterday. So before I get in line at the drop, I hope out to check ... Opps :( This is a small pickup, not a flatbed. There are no compartments, I could have just looked in the mirror to see that.

There are two people who check stuff in here. The gal knows the account number for what I am bringing in. I have to give the number to the guy when he checks me in. That number has only been on the first shipment I did and last night I finally keyed that number into my phone. Lucky I did (Or the guy would have had to ask the gal)

There is nothing good on the load board out of IA so I call local dispatch and they don't have anything either. Then I re-ready my last info and the auction truck from Maplewood to Shakopee is still there. I call in and get the trip even though it is after hours for both my dispatcher and the company who handles the orders.

By the time I get home, dispatch has the paperwork to me. So I call the shipper after hours to find out when they are open, it doesn't say on the paperwork. 7 AM to 5 PM. We might get going at 8 AM.

I would like to find more work for tomorrow to tie into what we are already doing. As of now we are not planning on working at all next week.

There are still Thief River Falls orders out there, but depending on how things went, it would be either two long days or two hotels. Either way I would rather wait on those trips until after next week.
