2 RV's to Boise ID

... spending the night at Laramie WY

We had planned on getting up at 5:30, we were awake at 5 AM. After we were up a little bit we realized that we had a narrow window to get past Laramie.

So we fast tracked getting ready and going, but we still ate breakfast because we were not planning on stopping until we ran out of hours.

One of the better breakfasts we have. They don't have a huge variety but what they have is good. Scrambled eggs, western scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, French toast ... more. And the food was good.

We pull out just as the sky is turning blue ... 6:30.

1st stop - Usually we we stop at the Cozar rest area unless we need fuel. But today we stop at the Casey's in case we need fuel. We don't, but it is one less stop to only stop here.

2nd stop is the Walmart in Ogallala for fuel. The TA truckstop is two cents cheaper today but this is our stop.

Usually we stop in Sidney for a break as this leg will be two and a half hours. Saving time.

3nd stop is the Port of Entry - this time I go in as soon as we stop, not waiting for BB this time. Every minute saved counts. One Amazon transporter is pulling out as I walk in. I could have purchased permits for both of us but we hadn't talked about that ahead of time.

While standing in the office we can see the weather reports. High winds ahead, nothing shut down.

4th stop is the Pilot in Laramie. No warnings of any kind on the overhead signs. BB checks the weather as we start fueling. All is still good, weather wise. But, for the first time in a long time I do not get my fuel discount. So I pay $1.50 more for my fuel than BB does.

I had thought we should leave right away and use the rest of our time before our required break. But BB was hungry and not wanting to talk. We go to Wendy's. We order and BB sits down to look at the weather.

ROAD CLOSED - to High profile vehicles.

... and the wind won't die down until tomorrow morning.

It is good that we stopped to eat instead of leave. If we had left we would have either had to back track or be stuck on the freeway ramp somewhere. With the winds this speed we would not have continued. We also look at the 'other route' and that is shut down also.

As we are sitting at Wendy's I see an Amazon truck come in and fuel and then go park, but the driver stays in his truck. When we are done eating I go and talk to him. He is headed to Portland and was supposed to deliver Tuesday AM. Right now he is looking for an 'alternate route.' There is one that runs down into CO but drivers have referred to it as a 'goat path.'

BB makes a reservation at the / our Comfort Inn. It is a couple of dollars more than the Best Western but the Best Western charges extra for early check ins.

5th and final stop is the Comfort Inn across the street. They do let us check in early.

Tomorrow - This delay will not likely change anything. We will just deliver a couple of hours later, but still on Tuesday. And, if we go to CA, we will still get there on Wednesday and will pick up a bus at the same time.

Yesterday - If we had driven an hour later into the night, we would have gotten to Rawlins before they closed the roads.
