1 tanker to Gary IN (delivered)

1 flatbed to Columbus OH

... spending the night at Hannibal MO

It had finally warmed up by the time we had gone to bed, but I still had a chill all night.

For breakfast we both had leftovers. Mine were still good.

We pull out at 7:30. BB had frost on the car, I did not have any on the truck.

1st stop was in Hampshire at the TA for fuel. I am now down to less than a quarter of a tank so I need to add enough fuel to get to the drop. 100 miles left to go and I am getting 8.8 mpg. I only add 11 gallons but hope that is enough.

When I pull in, I see that all pumps say 'Not working.' I call BB to let her know I will be going to the Loves a mile down the street. As I am waiting for her to pick up, I realize that the note is on the DEF area of the pump, not the pay area. They do have fuel.

No one is fueling when I get there so I leave my truck at the pump while I go in to get a receipt. I ask for two. As I am walking away from the fuel desk, I look at the receipt. It is for 103 gallons, I put in 11 gallons. Gotta watch these people.

Traffic isn't bad for Chicago, not much stop and go. They always seem to working on some stretch of highway around Chicago.

At some point I realize I have not looked at an aerial map. Also never looked at any map on how to get there. Only a quick glance to see where the drop was located. Once we are off the freeway I pull over on an exit to look at the route. By now BB is right behind me and I call her and she looks. I had been correct on how to get there.

When we get off on US-20, I realize we have been here before. Once we are on the final street, I see why. The second CNG pump in this area is right across the street from my drop.

2nd stop is the drop in Gary. Someone is standing by the door and signs off. But he does want to look at it before I leave. I go out to clean out the truck and he goes to grab a jacket. In my rush to get cleaned out, I open both doors ... a piece of paperwork goes flying. Luckily it is only a copy of the VIN that had been in the window. Before I can get out of the truck it is gone.

After I am done, I go back inside to wait. Not sure if he forgot but once he sees me he comes out almost right away. No issues. I make small talk and find out that this place has one truck a week coming though July.

Even though there were 100's of outhouses there, BB wants a real restroom. The closest one is at an Oasis a few miles away.

3rd stop was the New Holland Oasis. It is one that is not being taken down, yet.

4th stop is the Rax in Joliet. Same sandwich as always. This place used to be a favorite of mine. Today it was to go.

From here it is a road less traveled. Most of the roads we travel are to and from MN. This is from CGO to STL. I've likely been on it, but only once or twice.

5th stop is a rest area near McLean. Not feeling the best today and wanted some citrus. The closest I got was 3% Lemonade from Dole. Not bad, I don't think I have ever had that brand before.

From here I called the shipper. Voicemail. Dispatch had thought we would pick up tomorrow so we will leave it at that.

I would have printed out my paperwork last night if I had gotten it. Today when BB had time, she found it. We did get it last night. Not sure of Hotmail's logic. Hotmail sends a message to the junk folder for someone I have emailed many times. But the 'lawsuit' emails I send to junk are still coming through after 50+ junk emails.

The shipper closes at 3:30. We can make it by then, but not with enough time to do a proper inspection.

6th stop is for fuel in Hannibal. First to Huck's, their price is way more than listed online. We take a u-turn in their lot and head to Walmart.

7th and final stop is the Quality Inn in Hannibal. $20 cheaper than the Sleep Inn a block away. And from this one, it shares a parking lot with FiddleSticks. That was food tonight. We split a Philly. BB got a potato, I got potato soup. I only ate half. Good, but too full.

The 'perfect trips' that were on the load board yesterday are now gone. Another thing we need to take into account is Monday is <> a holiday for some locations. That means taking a 700 mile trip and spreading it over 3+ days.

Car needs to be returned on or before Monday and we also need to get re-fills on our meds. So we must be in town over the weekend.
