First order of business this morning was to line up working heading out of FL. Took a few dials but I got it ... them. Turns out the one coming back from FL to NC has a second leg, picking up at the same place as I drop in NC and going to SC. So a nice extra bit o money, plus IF there is work, it gets us within a few miles of where we want to leave out of.

Fueled before we hit the freeway, cheapest we'll find it was right here. Didn't need any yet but had room for ten gallons. Got 18 mpg on the first fill, over twice the mpg they are paying me for.

Quick stop at Walterburo at a rest area, then Darien at Burger King for lunch. Had planned on stopping at Wendy's, but they are closed as a lot of buildings. Outlet mall is now vacant and the other places seem to be closing down. When we walked into Burger King the people in line were complaining that no one was at the register. A couple of people walked out and suddenly where there had been three people working there was now six. Not sure where everyone was. We got our food quick but soon there was a line again, even with a full staff.

Somewhere around Jacksonville my check engine light came on. I'm used to that so I didn't stop until I got to the next rest area past Jacksonville. An hour and a half of phone calls later we head to the closest GMC dealer where they will work on it sometime next week. Dispatch thought I could wait for it ... I told them it would not be tonight or tomorrow and it wasn't.

Lucky for us there was a Enterprise Rental car location about a mile away. By now it was six o'clock and things are closing. They came and picked us up so that was a huge plus.

We got about 20 miles down the road before calling it a night. Food at Blondie's Diner and the night at the Quality Inn. We had thought of going further but motels were $150 so we do the extra drive in the AM.

I'm going to miss out on about $150 because of not making it to delivery. They only pay for miles driven and nothing for down time. But we will have no problem making pick up tomorrow near Port St Lucie.

Not much new on the board today. We will likely still hang out in NC/SC until there is work. We should get both legs of the next trip dropped by Monday.
