Up and ate breakfast shortly after it opened. We are TRYING to stay on central time. Breakfast here is in a very small area, 3-4 tables in a small area. But it's never been crowded.

Before 9 AM we drove down to the rental car place and got the car switched from a one-way to a local, that will save us about $20 a day. I couldn't get the fuel pump to start at the gas station, BB got if figured out while I was in asking for help. We put in a whole $2 to get it back to where the gauge was when we picked the car up.

Most exciting thing this AM was watching the canteen truck that sits by the entrance to the motel. Not sure where the customers come from but I remember him being there once before when we stayed also. This is still 'breakfast time.'

We actually plan on doing something today, but we want to eat first. The first place we pick is the Yuckie (Red) Tractor. Great reviews but ... it's permanently closed. Next choice was the Sweet Tomatoes, but BB read they were not open on Tues and Weds (looking online now it says they are open seven days a week.) We finally ended up at La Pinata, a little place with about 10 tables in a pie shaped building. Before I even realize how small it is I see a table with eight cops at it, three tables pushed together to make one place to sit.

Food was good, interesting place, lots of to-go orders.

That place was in Hayward as were the two cemeteries I wanted to visit today. Stopped at the first one and because of how large they are, I have to go in and find the grave location. I first gave them the names for the 2nd cemetery and they couldn't find those ???

When we arrived I had noticed a couple of people laying on their stomachs not too far from our car. When I mentioned them to BB, she told me it was the children's area. Later as I was leaving, one of the women was still lying there, except now her head was going up and down ... like she was kissing the grave to the child she could no longer hold ...

... while I'm there taking pictures of grave stones of people I never knew ...

A few miles down the road we are at the second cemetery. This one the person helping me drives me to the area, it is in a building. I noticed all the 'book,' etc on shelves when we walked in ... I didn't realize that in each were ashes. Interesting.

None of this had taken long so we stop at one more, this one in Fremont. Much smaller, but someone still walked me to the grave stone.

Now we were going to the bay. BB asked which one and I said the one in Fremont as long as we are here. She pegs it in and we end up at a closed recycle place. Her map says the one I'm talking about is in a different town (But a mile before we get there, there is a 'Welcome to Fremont' sign :) )

We get to where we wanted to go and they are repainting the lines in the parking lot at the visitors center so we drive a little further and see a big building on a hill with lots of parking. So we park and start going up the steps ... should have registered that something wasn't right when there was no ramp to the building from the handicapped spots. After ?? three flights of stairs we get to the top of the hill and ... that is it. A good view. We are next to an office building. All the trails are back down at the level we parked at.

We head back down and take a very short walk but the climb has taken it's toll on the old people. By now it is 3:15 and I call my dispatcher ... STILL no work.

We walk back to the car and after finding a direction to park the car so neither of us is in the sun, we look for motels. Prices are up, some are full. We finally decide to go to Vacaville. Cheapest place we can find and we have been there before.

Before we get on the freeway, we get behind a truck that the driver can't find 1st again once we are at a stoplight. I catch on to stuff like that quick so I find a break in the traffic and get around him. When we made the reservation the traffic was clear ... or the computer just didn't load the info. Traffic quickly changes and by the time we get to the motel it has taken us just about three hours to go 70 miles. Plan had been to stay south of San Jose but those motels were full or too $$$.

A couple of days ago when we were heading up to Livermore from Gilroy we were almost along side of a trailer when their tire blew ... makes for a pretty loud bang :)

We get to the Quality Inn in Vacaville about 6:30. I had wanted to go somewhere new to eat but it is now late enough we walk next door to the Hide-A-Way. Food is OK ... again. Get back to the motel at almost 8 PM ... local.

Hope there is work tomorrow. He did have a truck going to Boise, but he wouldn't be able to cover the last few nights motel with that run ... and I didn't want to go or get out of Boise.

Getting to be a long week. Not making any money, but expenses are <> covered.
