Running late. Delivered this AM, no bus tonight ... BUT dispatch is paying my motel to stay in town until I get a bus :)

Breakfast this AM does not have bacon, only sausage. That is when/why I remember I was going to only eat yogurt every other day, so I only have yogurt and juice.

Still not much of WiFi, sometimes I hit re-connect for 10 minutes before before being able to load a single page ... and then get disconnected before I get to the 2nd page.

Partly because of the WiFi we decided to walk the two miles to pickup our rental car. Quiet interesting walk. Part of it was on a bus route, most of it was though residential. Just before the last couple of blocks we got to an industrial area. There we did see someone with an old RV that had set up camp with the usual collect of stuff around the trailer. Then we got to the fences with the rolled barbwire. Not someplace I'd want to walk after dark but now it was 9 AM. Got to the rental car place at 9, they had opened at 8 AM.

Drive back was a little quicker, we took the freeway. Loaded up what we didn't need in the RV's and once it was time we drove the car half way to the dealer. After the 2 mile hike this AM, BB didn't want to walk from the dealer to the motel all in one shot. We parked it at the outlet center, which meant only having to cross one street and not go past any 'vacant' areas.

We got to the dealer about 10, my appointment was for 10:30 and BB's was for 11:30. Someone pulls in ahead of us, once they were finally parked we parked and went inside to wait. Close to 10:30 someone with a clipboard walks past us and says 'Hi,' but nothing more. About this time I get a call from one of the few drivers at company 1 that I'm still in contact with. I talk to him until someone tells us that it was the inspector that walked past us a few minutes ago. We head to the RV's.

Turns out the guy ahead of us didn't know he had to make an appointment so he's going to have to wait. While our first RV is getting inspected, someone else pulls in ... that is the person that missed their earlier appointment. During my conversation with the inspector I was told I should have been there this AM, no one had showed up before us. Then a salesman came out and wished we'd have been there Saturday (We could have,) He could have sold one of these Sunday to someone who was not happy they did not have any in stock.

Once BB's RV was done, she walked to get the car. When they started inspecting mine the fridge door came right off in their hand ... Opps. No 'driver damage' to either.

It's time to eat so we stop at In-n-Out. This time we both get double-doubles. Much better.

Nothing else on our to do list so a straight shot to Livermore where we'll spend the next few hours. I spend a while finishing up my call with the driver I was talking to back at the dealer. Then a little after 3 PM I call the local dispatch, no work BUT ... they will pay my motel if I will stay in town until there is a bus. :) We are staying. The other option is to catch up to the blizzard that is heading back to the midwest. And there is only one RV out of IA at the end of the day. No reason to head back.

We're staying so we start checking motels ... $175 !!! I don't like to bug this dispatcher, but I call back to see how much they are willing to pay. $175 is a little high, so we will drive a half hour to get it down under $150. Dispatch did say a few weeks ago there wasn't anything under $400 for a few days. We can drive a long ways to off set that. We could have used points but dispatch won't pay us back for the points.

Comfort Inn in Lathrop. After we check in and we are in the room, I am looking out the window and I start having a different kind of eye issue. This type I have had since I was in high school and it usually passes in a couple of hours. This time it doesn't but does seem to be clearing by the AM.

From there we walk a block to the Twist of Chicago. As we walk to the front of the building we can see the back, some guy has found something to drink in the dumpster. The Twist is a small place, seems awful quite to stay in business, a few to go orders while we are there. We order a garlic chicken pizza, we eat half there and take half to go. Same guy is still digging in the same dumpster when we leave an hour later.

The lot at the Comfort Inn looks very small but it might be because the parking spots are 2-4 spots wide and facing different angles. Truck parking is across the street at the Days Inn and is a huge lot.

There was a place to eat right across the street, but it is closed on Monday's.

We found out at 3 PM that there was no work, drove in rush hour traffic 30 miles, ate and it was time for lights out before I got this write up done. I haven't added anything to TripAdvisor since February, still taking pictures. Haven't taken any side trips to look at grave stones for months either.

Today is a laundry day. Didn't do that last trip and we ran out :(

Just saw this online ...
